Software-Defined Networking (SDN) SDN

An approach to networking that separates the control plane (traffic routing decisions) from the data plane (only forwarding packets) and centrally controls them through software. Its main advantage is flexible and fast network management, and its main risk is that the central controller is a critical point which, if compromised, endangers the entire network.
