Due diligence and due care

Due diligence is the investigation and verification before making a decision, for example thoroughly examining a vendor or risk before signing a contract. Due care is the continuous reasonable conduct and application of measures afterward to protect data and systems, so due diligence is 'check beforehand' and due care is 'take care continuously'.
