Malware and malicious activity

Beaconing (periodic check-in)

Regular, periodic communication of an infected computer toward the attacker's C2 infrastructure by which the implant reports that it is alive and requests commands. It is spotted by analyzing network traffic as rhythmic contacts toward the same destination, often with random variation (jitter) for concealment.
