Malware and malicious activity
Rootkit
A rootkit is malware that hides deep in the system, often at the kernel or firmware level, and alters the operation of the operating system to conceal itself and other threats. It is the hardest to detect and remove because it operates below security tools and antivirus, so a full system reinstall is often required.
