Vulnerability management

Authenticated / unauthenticated scan

An authenticated scan uses valid credentials to log into the system, so it sees the configuration, software versions and missing patches from the inside, giving deeper and more accurate results. An unauthenticated scan examines the system from the outside without logging in, like an attacker with no access, so it gives a more superficial view.
