802.1X port-based network access control 802.1X

A standard for authenticating devices before they gain network access at the port level, usually together with EAP and RADIUS. It has three roles: the supplicant (the device requesting access), the authenticator (a switch or access point) and the authentication server (e.g. RADIUS).
