Online certificate status protocol (OCSP) OCSP

A protocol by which a client checks in real time whether a digital certificate has been revoked, instead of downloading the entire CRL list. With OCSP stapling the server itself periodically fetches a signed proof of validity and delivers it to the client, which protects both privacy and performance.
