Certificate-based authentication
Servers and devices that cannot type a password or provide a fingerprint prove their identity with a digital certificate issued by a trusted certificate authority (PKI). The certificate contains a public key, and the machine holds the matching private key with which it confirms that it really is who it claims to be.
